Ernest Williams, where Kayla argued on behalf of amicus curiae, the Office of the Attorney General, to preclude the victim’s prior bad acts from admission before a jury, and State v. Orlando Trinidad, where Kayla persuaded the Court to find harmless error when a victim compared what happened to him to other similar, high-profile cases. In the Appellate Division, Kayla has represented the State in discovery, victims’ privacy rights, and investigation matters, including in a case addressing how the New Jersey Wiretap Act applies to social media. Kayla loves working with trial lawyers and using her specialty in appellate litigation to help design comprehensive strategies.
Kayla reputation for skill and excellence has led to her being asked to teach Continuing Legal Education classes, which all licensed attorneys must take throughout their career. As an assistant prosecutor, she taught a case update CLE three times a year that covered the most recent important decisions in the Appellate Division and the New Jersey Supreme Court. She also taught at the Office of the Attorney General-Division of Criminal Justice Appellate Symposium in 2018 and 2019.
