Domestic Violence Legal Assistant
We are looking for an efficient, organized legal assistant to help our attorneys and paralegals with Domestic Violence Restraining Order Cases. In addition to our Criminal Defense and Municipal Court Practice, we handle a large number of Domestic Violence Restraining Orders cases. We represent Plaintiffs (victims) and Defendants (the accused) in final restraining order hearings in the Family Part (FV docketed cases).
Who We Are Looking For: Legal Assistants to assist assigned attorneys with the preparation of their files to get all discovery from our clients including text messages, recordings, emails, photographs, videos, surveillance videos, social media messages, and any other evidence from our clients in preparation of their final restraining order hearings. Your preparation and review will include helping attorneys identify relevant evidence to present for trial and the preservation of trial notebooks. We especially welcome experience with the Domestic Violence Act in New Jersey including working with domestic violence units to receive TROs, experience in the courtroom for Final Restraining Order Hearings, or experience helping victims or the accused.
Who We are Looking For: Intake specialists to answer our phones and interact with callers to determine if the caller is a new lead or the call needs to be transferred to a different member of the team. Once a qualified new lead is identified, you will transfer or set up another call with the office manager or sales attorney to close the deal. As an intake specialist, you will also identify cases we don’t handle and introduce those new leads to our strategic partners who can handle their cases. You will be responsible for following up with new leads who do not immediately retain us and will also follow up with strategic partners to determine if they were retained on our referrals. Additionally, you will perform various administrative tasks including inputting new client information in the office CRM and creating new lead spreadsheets for our weekly meeting and monthly dashboard. You should be able to handle administrative projects and deliver high-quality work under minimum supervision.
