New Jersey News 12: Family of dead transgender woman accuse police of not taking the investigation seriously
The family of Ashley Moore, a transgender woman who was found dead outside of a YMCA near where she lived, believes that police investigations were lacking to determine the cause of her death. They believe that because Ashley was a transgender woman of color, they hastily concluded her death as a suicide and moved on.
Bob Bianchi appears on New Jersey News 12 to comment on this case and their investigation into the facts. The police report says that Ashley had ligature marks on her legs that the police attributed to being hit by a car. Bianchi points out that the YMCA where Ashley was found has a lot of access from many community members. Bianchi also points out that there is a lot of evidence that does not point to suicide that would prevent him from being able to fully conclude a suicide occurred.
